Google Ranks Content Even With No Backlinks
What does all this mean?
Two things, actually:
1. Be smart in use of keywords and key phrases (and do NOT keyword stuff!)
If you were thinking you could exploit to your advantage with repetition of the same keyword over and over within the same text, we’ve got bad news for you: keyword stuffing is considered Black Hat SEO today and it will only bring you penalties on Google.
Instead, be smart in your use of keywords and phrases! Use keyword proximity within the right context, make your text easy to read for users and give Google a reason to really want you in their index: content quality, reputation, authority!
In short, provide value and you’re up for a well-deserved reward.
2. On-Page SEO is Evergreen SEO
Because the first approach of Google to your pages and posts is text-based, you can’t do well in Google without good On-Page SEO.
Google ranks content even without backlinks, so you shouldn’t focus on backlinks the first time you put your website online— you should focus on smart keywords and phrases, instead, as well as topical relevance and quality of content, in terms of well-thought opinion, researched content and, possibly, interviews and authoritative quotes to support your arguments.
On-Page SEO is evergreen SEO because it’s the first SEO that counts— the SEO that will get you to rank the first time before links and citations come in.
Also, make sure you have a “strong keyword strategy”, not just for your text, but even for your backlinks — even though you should keep your keywords absolutely natural in this case because Google is harsh against money keywords in anchor text and links.
Do best, SEO wise, when you get your website online the first time?
